We are a New Zealand company and primarily handle information under the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand). Where we collect or handle personal information about individuals in Australia, we also have regard to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

- Business development information — where we identify a person or organisation as a potential client (for example, through public sources such as LinkedIn, company websites, or funding announcements), we may hold basic professional contact information for the purpose of making contact.
We do not collect sensitive information (such as health information) unless you provide it to us voluntarily, and we don't seek to collect personal information from children. Our services and the Site are directed at businesses and professionals, not children.
3. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information:
- directly from you, when you contact us, complete a form on the Site, or engage us for services;

5. Disclosure of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to:
- service providers we use to run our business and deliver client work, such as our website host, email and productivity tools, scheduling software, and analytics providers;
- contractors and collaborators engaged to help deliver a specific piece of work (for example, a designer or developer working on a client project), on a need-to-know basis;
- professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer, where reasonably necessary; and
- regulators or authorities, where required by law.
Some of the service providers we use may store or process information outside New Zealand, including in Australia or the United States, typically through reputable cloud-based platforms. By using the Site or our services, you accept that your information may be held or processed in this way.
6. Cookies and analytics
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use it and to improve its performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect how the Site functions. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of visitors for third parties.
7. Direct marketing and outbound contact
If you subscribe to our newsletter or marketing content, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in each message, or by contacting us at hello@thegridshift.com.
Where we contact a prospective client directly to introduce our services (for example, by email), we do so in accordance with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (New Zealand) and, where applicable, the Spam Act 2003 (Australia). This means our messages will identify GRIDSHIFT as the sender and include a way to opt out of further contact.
8. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access, including restricting access to information on a need-to-know basis and using reputable, secured third-party platforms to store and manage data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes it was collected, including to maintain business records, meet legal and tax obligations, and manage ongoing or potential client relationships. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.
10. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, to access that information, and to request that it be corrected. To make a request, contact us at hello@thegridshift.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you can contact us directly, or raise a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand) at privacy.org.nz, or, for individuals in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
